Sarah Mooney grew up in Rockford and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2003 from Northern Illinois University. She explores many forms of media, such as acrylic, spray paint, collage, and charcoal. Her range of expression comes from a wide variety of interests, from abstracts, to pet portraits, nature, and people. Much of her work has a bright and airy attitude about life in general. She loves exploring interactions of color within the composition.
Jose Manuel is an extremely versatile artist originally from Mexico City. He grew up spending all of his free time drawing and painting with his group of friends. He gets his inspiration from his Mexican culture, love of world history, and the Mayan people. He has experimented with every medium from pen and ink, to spray cans, airbrushing, sculpture, and acrylic painting, and is always trying new things with his art. His subjects often include characters from his Mexican roots, Day of the Dead, and portraits of people throughout history. In his free time, he is usually painting. Lately he has spent much of his free time creating street art in the Chicago, Elgin, and Rockford areas. You can check out one of his most recent murals in the back of Elgin Books Bookstore, high above the patio in downtown Elgin.
Paige Hudon is a talented local artist from St Charles, IL. She had spent much of her creative time on pen and ink drawings when we first met, but she has recently put more of her time into bright illustrative paintings. Her style is bold and brave, while at the same time textured and raw. She started as an apprentice in the fall of 2017 and has been tattooing with Funky Rooster ever since. Many of her fun and colorful works of art are on display in the shop, so stop in to check out her work!!
